Green Bay Finishes Weekend 2-0 Following Sweep Over IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) ---The Green Bay volleyball team (19-7, 11-3 HL) swept IUPUI this afternoon (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) which propelled them back to the top of the Horizon League.

Besides a scare in the first set, the Phoenix controlled the majority of the match today.  Offensively, Green Bay logged 42 kills and recorded a hitting percentage of .261.  The attack at the net was very balanced with 6 different members of the squad tallying kills.  Junior Taylor Wolf led the way with 12 kills and an impressive hitting percentage of .333.  Junior Kristen Paulus followed Wolf with 9 kills herself, while sophomore Shannon Coughlin chipped in 8.  Senior setter Maddie Yoss contributed 30 of the team's 36 assist, tallied 5 kills on 10 total-attacks and added an ace.

Set one (25-22) had the Phoenix take the lead in the match.  The set went back-and-forth until Green Bay found themselves trailing 16-21.  Coach Sutherland called her second timeout of the set and the team responded with a 9-1 run afterwards to close out the set.  Kristen Paulus smashed the set winning kill and recorded a total of 4 in the first.

Set two (25-17) saw the Phoenix take the commanding 2-0 lead in the match.  Taylor Wolf led the squad in kills during the set with 4.  As a team, Green Bay logged 15 kills while earning a hitting percentage of .238, which was nearly 100 points higher that IUPUI's .146.

Set three (25-21) went the way of the Phoenix for their second sweep on the weekend and eighth of the season.  During the third, Green Bay tallied 14 kills and had their highest hitting percentage of the match at .278.  The squad also poured in 5 of their 6 aces to help them claim the set and the match.

Defensively, the Phoenix had 54 digs and 8 block-assist on the day.  Freshman libero Annelise Sparks led with 15 digs, but Taylor Wolf wasn't far behind with 14.  In total, 8 different members of the team recorded a dig in the match.  Junior Anna Eaton led Green Bay in block-assist with 3.

Next Game
The Phoenix will be back in action for Senior Night on Thursday (November 14th) against UIC at 6:00 p.m. CT for their final regular-season home game.  Before the match, the team will honor seniors Emily Lautenschlager and Maddie Yoss.
