ROSEMONT, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay softball team wrapped up play in the Total Control Invitational on Sunday afternoon, falling to Evansville, 5-4, to conclude opening weekend with a 2-3 record.
Green Bay jumped out to an early lead in the tournament finale, plating one run in the first after
Aubrey Drohner touched home due to an error by the Purple Aces.
The Phoenix added three runs in the fourth inning to jump out to a 4-1 lead over Evansville but after a four-run inning by UE in the sixth, the Purple Aces were able to take a lead it would not relinquish.
Kayla Schwebke was in the circle for the third time this weekend for Green Bay and picked up eight strikeouts, with only two of the five runs scored by Evansville being earned.
Green Bay will return to the diamond in March, traveling to Edwardsville, Ill., for four games in the Cougar Classic.
