ROSEMONT, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay softball team continued play in the Total Control Invitational on Saturday morning, taking the diamond against Western Illinois and DePaul.
The Phoenix (2-2) defeated Western Illinois, 4-3, after forcing extra innings and using a walk-off single to center field from Rebecca Radtke to plate Brittany Baneck in the bottom of the ninth and claim GB's second win in as many days.
Kayla Schwebke was in the circle for the Phoenix and pitched all nine innings en route to her second win of the season. The sophomore allowed only five hits and struck out three batters in the outing.
Green Bay turned in seven hits in the matchup, with Bailey Schultz and Crystal Guzman notching two apiece. Guzman also collected three of Green Bay's four RBIs in the morning matchup.
Green Bay later faced DePaul for the second time in the invitational, falling to the Demons 10-1 in six innings.
Green Bay wraps up play in the weekend invitational on Sunday morning, taking the diamond against Evansville at 11:30 a.m.
