MARTIN, Tenn. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay softball team opened action in the Skyhawk Hampton Inn Classic on Friday afternoon, taking the diamond against host UT Martin for a doubleheader. The Phoenix lost a pair of tight contests, falling 5-3 in the first matchup and 5-4 in the second.

Green Bay was the first on the board in the opening game, scoring two runs in the first inning after a sacrifice-fly to center field from
Rebecca Radtke brought
Kalyssa Koehn home and a single from
Greta Thompson scored
Aubrey Drohner.
The next five runs were all scored by UTM, as the Phoenix trailed 5-2 at the end of the third inning.
Bailey Schultz brought the third and final Phoenix run home after a single slipped through the left side and allowed
Alyssa Brewer to touch home.
Green Bay and UT Martin finished with nine hits apiece in the matchup, but the Phoenix left a total of 10 runners on the base pads compared to UTM's seven.

The second game got off to a slower start than the first, with both programs being held scoreless through the first four innings.
The Skyhawks jumped out to an advantage with a lead-off home run followed by a wild pitch and a single from Garst to own a three-run advantage.
Green Bay responded in the sixth inning with a grand slam from Koehn to take control of the game, 4-3, as the teams headed to the final inning.
The Skyhawks hit a walk-off home run in the in the bottom of the seventh to escape with a 4-3 victory and sweep the Phoenix on the first day of play.
Green Bay will be back in action tomorrow, first taking the diamond at 10 a.m. against Akron before its rematch with UT Martin at 3 p.m.
