QUICK HITS

GB IN MOTOR CITY MADNESS
This will be the fourth (and final) season the Horizon League Tournament has been played in Detroit and dubbed Motor City Madness. GB made its historic four games in four days run in the first edition of the tournament back in 2015-16, making its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 20 years. Since that perfect 4-0 year, GB has gone 1-2, losing in the Quarterfinals of the 3-6 matchup to UIC in 2016-17. Last season GB won in the First Round as the No. 7 seed over No. 10 seed Detroit Mercy before falling to eventual tournament champion and No. 2 seed Wright State. Head coach Linc Darner has the most Motor City Madness wins among all active Horizon League head coaches with five. The last time Green Bay was the No. 4 seed in the HL Tournament, in won the tournament championship.

RESCH REALITY
Green Bay went 8-2 at the Resch Center during the regular season and has won four of its last five games there, most recently dropping an 86-82 decision to league-champion Northern Kentucky. GB is averaging 83.4 PPG and shooting just over 46 percent from the field in Resch games. Sandy Cohen III (19.8 PPG) and JayQuan McCloud (18.0 PPG) have put up big numbers at the Resch this year, while ShanQuan Hemphill (12.9 PPG) and Kameron Hankerson (10.4 PPG) have also averaged in double-figures. GB will host its first Horizon League Tournament game since the 2013-14 season, when Keifer Sykes' and Alec Brown's top-seeded Green Bay side was upset by No. 5 seed Milwaukee 73-66 in overtime of the semifinals.

FACING THE FLAMES
GB won both meetings against UIC during the regular season, overcoming a double-digit deficit in both games. GB trailed by as many as 19 points in Chicago just 11 days before the two teams will do battle in a win or go home format. Sandy Cohen III enjoyed the most success against the Flames this season, averaging 23.0 PPG in the two meetings while shooting 50 percent (17-34) from the field. McCloud (14.5 PPG), Hemphill (13.0 PPG), Josh McNair (11.0 PPG) and Kameron Hankerson (10.0) all averaged in double-figures, giving GB five players that averaged 10 points or more per game against UIC. UIC shot just 40.6 percent in the two games combined and 27.8 percent from 3-point range as well. The first meeting saw GB win 90-85 before coming back to win 63-62 in the second meeting, using a late defensive stand to seal the win. Darner is 6-3 all-time against UIC and GB leads the all-time series 60-40.

SUPER SANDY
Playing some of his best basketball of the season, Senior Sandy Cohen III has been scoring in bunches since the start of February, having now scored in double-figures in nine-straight games. More impressively, Cohen has scored 20 points or more in four out of his last five games, and has grabbed 8 rebounds per game during that stretch. Cohen ranks 3rd in the HL in scoring at 18.2 PPG and still leads his team in every major statistical category. He scored 26 and 20 points against UIC in the two meetings this season and is coming off a weekend where he averaged 24.5 PPG.

TOP FOUR, AGAIN
For the third time under head coach Linc Darner, GB has finished in the top four of the Horizon League standings and won at least 10 league games. GB has now finished fourth, third, seventh and fourth under Darner, and was able to earn a home game in the Quarterfinals this season. GB joins NKU, Wright State and Oakland as the only teams to win 10 or more league games in each of those seasons.

BANKING ON TANK
ShanQuan Hemphill, known as Tank, has been the most consistent Phoenix player since the start of February, having now scored in double-figures in nine-straight games. Hemphill also registered three double-doubles during his recent stretch as well, and is the only player to start in all 31 games this season. Hemphill leads the team in field goal percentage as well, shooting just over 54 percent from the field.
