GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay took the diamond against Detroit Mercy for the first of a three-game series on Friday afternoon, taking down the Titans 5-3 at Circle Tap.

The Titans wasted no time plating its first run of the series, as Courtney Gilber touched home in the first inning after a single up the middle to give UDM a 1-0 lead.
Green Bay knotted the game at one-all after a solo home run from
Kalyssa Koehn in the fourth inning and took the lead later in the same frame after
Greta Thompson doubled to center field, allowing
Jenna Smarzinski and
Sonia Schubert to score.
The Phoenix added two more runs in the sixth inning after
Emily Madeiros singled to third to bring home
Rebecca Radtke and
Bailey Schultz hit a ball down the first-base line to score Thompson.
Detroit Mercy scored two runs in its final plate appearances but was unable to match Green Bay's run total, as the Phoenix took game one by a score of 5-3.
Kayla Schwebke was in the circle for all 7.0 innings for GB, allowing three runs and picking up a trio of strikeouts in the outing.
Green Bay will be back in action tomorrow as the team wraps up its series against UDM with a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. at Circle Tap
