GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Head coach Abbey Sutherland and the Green Bay volleyball program have announced another player joining their 2019 roster, with the addition of incoming transfer Iro Chounta. She will join Calli Gentry (St. Charles, Ill.), Brenna Hesse (Farmington, Minn.), Kayla Lass (Stevens Point, Wis.), Tiffany Paalman (Appleton, Wis.) and Annelise Sparks (Maroa, Ill.) in wearing the Phoenix jersey for the first time this fall.

Chounta on Green Bay: "I could not be more excited about choosing Green Bay to continue my academic and athletic career. I knew from the visits that this will be my home for the next years because the university is beautiful and the people are so welcoming. I am so happy about being a part of this team and I cannot wait to work with the coaches and the girls on the team."

Coach Sutherland on Chounta: "Iro handled herself really well throughout the recruitment process. She is independent and takes initiative to get things done, and this immediately impressed us. Iro practices gratitude, is polite, and has a great energy about her; the team loved being with her on her visit. It's evident that she's excited about the opportunity to be a Phoenix. Coach Korey and I are very excited about the opportunity to coach her and help her grow as a student-athlete. She wants to compete and make a difference, and I think she's a great fit for our team and will make us better."
