INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Two members of the men's golf team were named to the 2019 Men's Golf All-Academic Team, announced the Horizon League on Friday. Junior George Kneiser and sophomore Ben Gilles both collected the honor for the first time in their collegiate careers after a strong year on the course.

Kneiser continues to shine throughout his successful season, which has yet to be concluded. The Accounting major holds a 3.24 grade-point average while leading the Phoenix on the green, winning the 2019 Horizon League Championships and punching his ticket to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship. The junior from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin will play three rounds in Louisville next week on May 13-15.

Gilles boasts a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while majoring in Human Biology, and has played 22 rounds in the 70s this season. The native of Madison, Wisconsin notably was a key factor in both of the conference-hosted invites that GB attended this year: in the Wright State Invitational, he tied for first on the team, while he also posted a top-10 finish at the NKU Classic.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.
