Phoenix Men Finish Second in Cleveland, Women Finish Sixth at Butler

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Green Bay men's and women's golf teams wrapped up a pair of events Tuesday afternoon. The Phoenix men had an outstanding tournament in Cleveland, tying for second out of 12 teams at the Tom Tontimonia Invite, while the women finished sixth out of 14 teams at the Butler Fall Invitational.

"I'm super happy with the guys," said head coach Lee Reinke. "I'm also happy that freshman Wyatt Manner shot a career-low, even par, as an individual. Logan Suter shot his first under-par round at GB."

Reinke continued, "The team played well today. It came down to the last putt for Mason. If he made birdie, he would've tied for medalist, but he took second, which was awesome. We gained a lot of momentum coming out of last week in Madison. There were a lot of lessons to be learned, and we're just going to keep building and look forward to the Motor City Matchup in Michigan next week."

The Phoenix men shot a +7 through three rounds, tying Purdue Fort Wayne, and finishing six shots behind Dayton, the event winners. Mason Haupt once again led the Phoenix individually, finishing T2 with a -4 through three rounds. Haupt golfed best in his second round, firing off a 68 (-3). Brett Wieland was also a leader for the Phoenix, finishing T10 with a +3 on the weekend. Wieland also shot under par in round two, firing off a 70 (-1). Yinta Yang rounded out the top three for GB, coming in at T15 with a +4. Logan Suter was excellent in round one, shooting a 70 (-1).
