MADISON, WIS. – The Green Bay men's golf team wrapped up their three-day event in Madison, the Badger Fall Invitational at University Ridge. The Phoenix had a solid weekend, finishing T10 out of 19 teams. Southern Miss won the weekend with a -23.
The Phoenix women also wrapped up play on Tuesday, finishing T6 out of 11 at the NKU Fall Invitational at Belterra Golf Club in Florence, Ind. Butler won the event with a +22 as a team.
The Phoenix men was outstanding on day one in Madison, shooting -10 as a team led by a 67 (-5) from
Lincoln Hottmann.
Mason Haupt and
Vince Sigl also contributed to the under-par score, shooting a 69 (-3) and 70 (-2), respectively. That score was good enough for the lead after round one. Unfortunately, the Phoenix was unable to keep that pace, shooting a +10 in round two and a +6 in round three. Hottmann led the Phoenix individually, finishing -1 for a T16 placing.
Mason Haupt was the other Phoenix inside the top 30, finishing T29 at +2 for the week.
The Green Bay women were also strongest in round one of their tournament, shooting +17 as a team. The team followed that round with a +20 in round two, and +30 in round three. The women had multiple top-30 individual finishes, led by
Riley Pechinski, who shot +14, which was good for T13.
Nina Lang was next up at +18 across three rounds, good for T22, while
Jordan Shipshock and
Hannah Goodman finished T24 and T26 respectively.
Both teams will be back in action next weekend as the men travel to Cleveland for the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, while the women head to Indiana for the Butler Fall Invitational. Both events go from Oct. 5-6.
