GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay Athletics continued its success in the 2018-19 season, with numerous accomplishments being celebrated through the fall, winter and spring seasons. Five teams earned spots in the postseason from Green Bay, with Volleyball leading the way with a regular season and tournament championship as well as a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Phoenix also celebrated a pair of individual NCAA qualifiers, as George Kneiser of men's golf and Sadie Peterson of women's nordic ski represented Green Bay in their respective postseasons.
The volleyball team was crowned the Horizon League regular season champions for the first time in program history in 2018, compiling an impressive 13-3 mark in HL play. The team also won three-consecutive matches in the Horizon League Tournament to hoist the trophy and punch its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003. Green Bay's historic season also welcomed a number of individual accolades, as head coach Abbey Sutherland was named Horizon League Coach of the Year, Taylor Wolf was named HL Player of the Year, Maddie Yoss was named HL Setter of the Year, Vanessa Buman was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and Alexandra Zakutney worked her way onto the all-freshman team.

The men's basketball team enjoyed one of its deepest runs into the postseason in program history this season, as the Phoenix made a run in the CIT and finished runner-up to Marshall. Green Bay pieced together four-straight wins to open the tournament and advance to the championship, defeating ETSU in the first round, FIU in the second round, CSU Bakersfield in the quarterfinals and using a game-winning jumper from Sandy Cohen III to defeat Texas Southern in the semifinals. A number of program records fell for Green Bay in 2018-19, including total points scored (3,090) and total three-pointers made (303). Sandy Cohen III and ShanQuan Hemphill were both named to the CIT All-Tournament Team.
George Kneiser captured the 2019 Horizon League Men's Golf Championship this spring, finishing 1-under par for the tournament and earning the individual victory by three strokes at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Florida. Kneiser became the third golfer in program history to win the HL individual championship, joining Chad Ebert (2012) and Shaun Rezachek (2001 & 1998) as Phoenix players to raise the trophy. With his individual victory, Kneiser earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships as a single player.
The women's basketball team battled through adversity all season long and finished another successful campaign in 2018-19, finishing as the runner-up in both the regular season and tournament championship. Green Bay was rewarded for its success this season with a home game in the first round of the WNIT for the first time in program history.

After a strong showing on the ski trails all season, nordic skiing's Sadie Peterson earned a spot in the 2019 NCAA Championships in Stowe, Vermont as one of the best collegiate Nordic skiers in the country. Peterson represented Green Bay well in both the 5k freestyle race and 15k classical in the NCAA Championships.
After the results were compiled on the final day, the men locked down a third-place finish for the second year in a row, this time by just one point, with a dramatic conclusion coming down to the last relay. Green Bay accumulated a total of 494 points in the four-day championships, besting IUPUI's mark of 493 to lock down third place.

The men's soccer team locked down the No. 4 seed in the Horizon League Tournament after a 4-3-1 record in the conference season, earning the right to host a first round game in the post season. The home match in the quarterfinals marked the first time Green Bay hosted a postseason game since the 2011 season.

The men's tennis team advanced to the Horizon League Tournament at the Schwartz Tennis Center on the campus of Purdue University as the No. 5 seed after a strong conference season. With its appearance in the Horizon League Tournament, the team continued its streak of advancing to the postseason in every year of the Horizon League era.
