GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay Department of Athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted the sixth annual Student-Athlete Honors Night on Tuesday at the Meyer Theatre in downtown Green Bay.
 
Nearly 300 Phoenix student-athletes, staff members and fans attended the event to celebrate the 2018-19 season. The event opened with remarks from University of Wisconsin – Green Bay Chancellor, Gary L. Miller, and Director of Athletics, Charles Guthrie.
 
Sam Myers of the nordic ski team and Brian Kuklinski, the voice of Green Bay men's basketball, served as the event's emcees and offered entertainment to guests throughout the awards show.
 
The end of year celebration highlighted accomplishments by coaches, student-athletes and teams. A number of awards were distributed throughout the evening in recognition of outstanding performances in both athletics and academics.
 
Green Bay volleyball took home team of the year honors after securing the program's first-ever regular season championship and second tournament championship, subsequently earning a berth in NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003.
 
Horizon League individual champion and men's golf member George Kneiser, and Horizon League Player of the Year Taylor Wolf collected the event's most prestigious awards - Male and Female Athlete of the Year.
