Green Bay, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay Volleyball team returned to campus last week to begin the 2019 campaign after a historic season in 2018. Head Coach
Abbey Sutherland returns in her second year at the helm, that saw the team achieve their first-ever regular season title and a Horizon League Tournament Championship, which sent them to the NCAA Tournament. Not only does the squad return Player of the Year
Taylor Wolf and Setter of the Year
Maddie Yoss, but much of their nucleus as well looking to maintain the success from last season.
The Phoenix has a home exhibition match set for August 24 against Loyola at 1p.m. The Ramblers finished 18-14 last season. This should be a solid test for Green Bay though, with the Ramblers more than tripling their win total in 2018 from 2017 (5).
Green Bay Athletics caught up with
Taylor Wolf and
Maddie Yoss after practice to hear their thoughts on the upcoming season.
The team will participate in four non-conference tournaments, beginning with the GBD Invite at the Kress Center. The Phoenix will then head out east to the Champyinz Invitational in Pittsburgh, followed by the the NDSU Classic and Hyatt Regency Marquette Invitational.
