Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay women's soccer team ended its weekend with a 2-0 victory over Chicago State in the Windy City on Sunday afternoon, turning in its second shutout of the weekend in the process.
The Phoenix improved to 2-0 on the season with the victory, marking the first time since the 1996 season where Green Bay secured back-to-back wins to open the season.
Green Bay's goals came from
Caitlin Hawley in the 18
th minute and
Jordyn Cook in the 54
th minute, with both scores being assisted by
McKayla Kertscher.
Adding to the impressive start for GB, the Phoenix didn't allow a single shot on goal in the pairing. Green Bay totaled 15 shots with nine being placed on the Cougars' net.
Up next for Green Bay is a trip out west, as matchups with St. Mary's (CA) and UC Davis are slated for Thursday, Aug. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 1, respectively.
