Green Bay Suffers Second Loss of the Season to NDSU

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) ---The Green Bay volleyball team suffered their second loss of the season with a 0-3 (21-25, 20-25, 21-25) lost North Dakota State (NDSU).

Green Bay 0, North Dakota State 3
Tonight just didn't go the way of Green Bay, as the team could never find their groove offensively or defensively.  The Phoenix actually were plus one in kills with 41, compared to NDSU's 40, but a poor hitting percentage stifled the team.  Additionally, errors throughout the match truly hurt the team.  As a whole, the Phoenix committed 21 attack-errors, 10 service-errors, and 3 block-errors.  Despite the uncharacteristic performance, seven different players recorded kills, and four logged aces for the match.

Junior Taylor Wolf led the squad in kills during the match with 9, followed by sophomore Shannon Coughlin with 8, and a trio of Phoenix tallying 6.  Maddie Yoss had another double-double on the season, registering 33 of the 39 assist, and adding 10 digs.  Defensively, eleven of the twelve players who entered the match for Green Bay recorded a dig for the squad.  Lastly, the Phoenix had 7 total-blocks on the night, with Anna Eaton leading the way with 4 block-assist.

Set one (21-25) went the way of the Bison.  The set went back-and-forth most of way with the score being tied up twelve different times throughout.  NDSU went on a run late to take a 20-15 lead and Green Bay couldn't recover.  The Phoenix didn't help their cause much during the first set either with the squad committing six service-errors and seven attack-errors.

Set two (20-25) was similar to the first set in that errors stopped the Phoenix from gaining any momentum.  The team committed four more service-errors and six more attack-errors during the second set.  Additionally, Green Bay only hit .182, while NDSU hit an impressive .308.  This combination allowed the Bison to control the set and never surrender the lead.

Set three (21-25) saw the Bison take the set and the match.  The Phoenix hit a match-low .163 in the third set and committed a match-high eight attack-errors.
