GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com)--- The Green Bay volleyball team completed the Champyinz Invitational by defeating Big Ten opponent Ohio State (13-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-20).

The Phoenix was a completely different team following a rough first set. Green Bay continually improve throughout the match and had a variety of players step up in the victory. Junior
Taylor Wolf contributed a double-double with a team-high 23 kills and 15 digs. Junior
Ashley Sledge added 8 kills for the Phoenix and had a stellar hitting percentage of .400 in the match. Sophomore
Alexis Dorner came in clutch for Green Bay as well, tallying a career-high 7 kills. Lastly, senior setter
Maddie Yoss logged the other double-double of the match for Green Bay with 36 assist and 13 digs.
Set one (13-25) went the way of the Buckeyes. The Phoenix opened the set on the back foot and couldn't recover from the slow start. Ohio State converted 16 of their 37 attacks and had a pair of aces in the set.Â
Taylor Wolf and
Ashley Sledge each recorded kills for Green Bay.
Set two (25-21) saw the Phoenix bounce back to even up the match at one a piece.   Green Bay led most of the way, but Ohio State tied it up late at 20-20. Nonetheless, the Phoenix composed itself to claim the set.
Taylor Wolf stepped up and logged 7 kills and 5 digs. Â
Alexis Dorner also contributed 3 kills for Green Bay.
Set three (25-21) was another close one from start-to-finish between the Phoenix and Buckeyes. The set was tied up at 12-12 when Green Bay went on a run to take control. Ohio State fought tough but could never overcome Green Bay's six-point lead. Four different players from the squad tallied kills, led by none other than
Taylor Wolf with 5.
Set four (25-20) had Green Bay claim the set and the match. The closest the score ever got was 9-8 in favor of the Phoenix early on. Green Bay slowly but surely increased their lead throughout and never conceded. The offense erupted during the set, with the team netting a hitting percentage of .375.

Brenna Hesse added 14 of her own. Freshman defensive specialist
Annelise Sparks was another member to step-up big for Green Bay, having a career-high 8 digs, while
Emily Lautenschlager tallied 8 herself. As a team, Green Bay totaled 18 block-assist on the night, led by
Taylor Wolf and
Ashley Sledge with 5 each.Â
Anna Eaton followed up with 4 also for the Phoenix.
Green Bay finished the Champyinz Invitational 2-1, with their only loss coming from the #10 nationally ranked Pittsburgh Panthers. This saw the Phoenix earn second place in the tournament and saw
Maddie Yoss and
Taylor Wolf earn All-Tournament honors.
Next Game
The Phoenix heads to North Dakota next weekend to participate in the NDSU Classic. Green Bay will matchup against Buffalo, California, and host North Dakota State.
