GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Amari Davis recorded another 20-point game and Green Bay overcame a 15-point deficit to defeat Oakland at the Resch Center on Thursday night 73-69. The Phoenix (8-11, 3-3 HL) trailed by three at halftime, but outscored the Golden Grizzlies (7-12, 2-4 HL) 38-31 in the second half to snap a two-game losing skid.
It was Davis and fellow-guard
JayQuan McCloud carrying the bulk of the load once again, combined for 39 points and nine assists.
Kameron Hankerson was also in double-figures, scoring 10 on 4-for-6 shooting.Â
After Oakland jumped out to a 19-4 lead, GB would later use a 12-0 run to get right back in the game. A throwdown dunk by Hankerson sparked the Phoenix in the first half, and a 3-pointer by
Will Chevalier also played key during the run.
McCloud was able to ice the game at he free throw line with 7 seconds left and leading by two, making both free throws to cap the win. It was the 8-0 run just under 10 minutes left in the game that proved to be the difference with GB scoring points on one possession.Â
The Phoenix defense held Oakland to 32.1 percent in the second half, after they shot 44.1 percent in the first half.Â
GB will host Detroit Mercy next, which won at Milwaukee on Thursday night. The two teams will battle at noon on Saturday at the Resch Center, with the first 750 fans receiving a free Cellcom Fanny Pack.Â
