GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The second quarter of Friday night's matchup with league-leading IUPUI proved to be the difference maker in the pairing, as Green Bay fell to the Jaguars 54-42.

Green Bay was on the board first in Friday night's matchup, but IUPUI responded with a 13-4 run to take an early lead. The Jaguars' Holly Hoopingarner buried two triples in a 40-second span during the run, but Green Bay's Hailey Oskey kept pace with a triple of her own and seven points in the opening frame.

IUPUI began taking control of things early in the second quarter, scoring the eight points of the frame to garner its first double-digit lead of the evening at 19-17.

The Phoenix ended the run at 8-0 with a jumper from Madison Wolf, but the Jaguars scored the final five points of the half to lead things 32-19 as the teams headed to the locker room.

Green Bay began to battle back late in the third, as a pair of free throws and a layup from Frankie Wurtz sparked an 8-2 run favoring the Phoenix. Caitlyn Hibner finished off the quarter with an and-one, but IUPUI carried a 47-32 lead into the final quarter.

A layup from Mackenzie Wolf placed perfectly on the glass dropped followed by a Jags' turnover and triple from Wurtz forced IUPUI to take a timeout with 6:01 remaining. A triple from Wurtz with 2:02 left made it an 11-point game, but the Jaguars were able to hold off the Phoenix from there for a 54-42 victory.

Wurtz led the Phoenix in scoring for the 12th time this season, amassing 14 points in 37 minutes.  Hibner secured nine rebounds and chipped in five points in 33 minutes, while Oskey added seven points in 34 minutes.

The Phoenix was held to a season-low 42 points but managed to hold the Jaguars 26 points below their scoring average in league play.

Green Bay caps the weekend with a Sunday matinee against UIC, with tip-off slated for 1 p.m. at the Kress Center.
