NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Green Bay softball team secured its second win of the weekend on Sunday morning, defeating Western Michigan 3-2 to cap its action in the Bruin Challenge.
Kalyssa Koehn got GB on the board in the top of the first with a sacrifice-fly to left field which brought Tiffany Giese around to score.
The Broncos responded with a two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning to swipe the lead momentarily.
Rebecca Radtke was able to touch home in the fifth inning to tie the game after Koehn distracted the defense trying to steal second.
With the score knotted at two-all, Alyssa Brewer sent a deep shot over the center field fence to regain the advantage for the Phoenix, 3-2.
The score would remain the same for the rest of the game as GB would go on to seal its second victory of the weekend, 3-2.
Kayla Schwebke pitched her second complete game of the weekend and earned her second win, scattering only four hits throughout the day.
Green Bay will shift its attention to Thursday's doubleheader at UT-Martin, with the first pitch slated for noon.
