GREEN BAY, Wis. --- Although Green Bay didn't get the outcome it hoped for in its long-awaited return to the court on Monday afternoon at the Kress Center, nothing beats the feeling of finally being able to play volleyball again.
Cleveland State earned a three-set victory in the season opener, as the Vikings hit .263 (30-10-76) to secure the victory.
Alexandra Zakutney finished with a game-high 11 kills while hitting .321 (11-2-28) in the match. A total of 11 Phoenix players tallied digs on the afternoon, all led by
Annelise Sparks who tallied eight.
Emily DeGeorge and Hannah Greene led the Vikings offense with eight kills apiece.
Green Bay returns to the court tomorrow at 1 p.m. for another matchup against Cleveland State.
