GREEN BAY, Wis. --- The second match of the spring 2021 season for the Green Bay volleyball team started well with a 25-21 win, but the Vikings rallied for convincing wins in the next three sets to stake a 3-1 win and earn the sweep. CSU won 25-13, 25-15 and 25-19 to open the season 2-0 and hand GB the home loss.Â
GB finished with just a .049 hitting percentage, including a negative percentage in set two and a 0 in the third set. The Vikings hit .234 in the match, bouncing back after a .094 first set.
The Phoenix attack was led by
Kristen Paulus with nine kills and five blocks, with
Anna Eaton and
Alexandra Zakutney both putting home six kills a piece. The Vikings defense kept GB in check, finishing with 71 digs and 13 blocks. GB had nine kills in every set after the first, while CSU totaled 37 over that stretch.Â
CSU was led by London Portis with 13 kills and Hannah Greene with 12 kills.
Green Bay will play its next series back at home, when it plays host to IUPUIÂ next Monday (2/1) and Tuesday (2/2).Â
