INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Green Bay women's basketball has been predicted to finish third in the Horizon League, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
Meghan Pingel was selected as a member of the preseason All-League Second Team.
The Phoenix received 120 poll points from the league's coaches, finishing just behind IUPUI (139) and Milwaukee (125).
Pingel headlines a Green Bay team that returns five of its top seven minute-getters from the 2020-21 season. The redshirt-senior has long been a focal point of the team's defense, starting in all 22 games, and swiping a team-high 42 steals. On the offensive end, she averaged 5.2 points per game, 4.9 assists per game, and 2.8 rebounds per game.
While many of the 2020-21 contributors return for the Phoenix, the team will also welcome five true freshmen in 2021-22.
Horizon League play is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Nov. 18, with all 12 teams in action. Green Bay will host Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m. for the league's opening night. The 2022 Horizon League Women's Basketball Championships are set to take place at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis on March 7-8.
