HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY-- Green Bay shut out Northern Kentucky 1-0 Saturday (Oct. 23) on the road at NKU Soccer Stadium, beating the Norse for the first time in program history and securing what could be a massive three points with one match left to go in the regular season. With the win, GB moves four points ahead of fifth-place Purdue Fort Wayne in the standings, still in line to host a home game in the Horizon League Tournament. PFW plays at Detroit Mercy on Saturday.
Green Bay improved to 7-1-6 overall and 4-1-5 in Horizon League play after the victory. The Phoenix finishes its season at undefeated Milwaukee next Wednesday (Oct. 27) night.
How it Happened
Green Bay broke the scoreless match when senior Jordyn Cook scored her first goal of the season in the 87th minute, assisted by Emily Murphy and Maria Wiefering. The GB defense held on for the win from there, with Annie Mason securing her sixth shutout of the season.
