MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Green Bay women's soccer team fell 1-0 courtesy of a late goal from Milwaukee Wednesday night at Engelmann Stadium.
The regular season finale loss dropped Green Bay's record to 7-2-6 overall and 4-2-5 in the Horizon League. The Phoenix finish the season as the No. 4 seed in the Horizon, and will host No. 5 Cleveland State in the Horizon quarterfinals this Sunday at 1 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay kept Milwaukee off the scoreboard in the first half before giving up the lone goal after the break in the loss. After a midweek Defensive Player of the Week award, Annie Mason had another strong showing for the Phoenix with a season-high nine saves. The Phoenix totaled eight shots, four of them on goal. Green Bay faced 22 Milwaukee shots, 10 of them on goal.
GAME NOTES
- Sarah Teubner led the Phoenix offense with two shots on goal.
- Emily Murphy and Victoria Wittenbrock also recorded one shot on frame a piece.
- Mason's nine saves is good the fourth time this year she's saved five-plus shots in a contest.
