HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -The Green Bay volleyball team fell to the Northern Kentucky Norse in straight sets (14-25, 17-25, 19-25) Friday on the road.
The loss dropped Green Bay's record to 11-14 overall and 6-7 in Horizon play.
Shannon Coughlin finished with 12 kills on the day to lead the Phoenix offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .258. GB got nine digs from Abby Gardner to lead them defensively.
GAME NOTES
» Alexandra Zakutney had a team-high one ace.
» The Phoenix got three blocks apiece from Rylee Boyd and Shannon Coughlin.
» Green Bay attackers were helped by a match-high 22 assists from Calli Gentry.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-14. Green Bay trailed by as many as 11 points as Northern Kentucky grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 in a set that was tied up two times before the Norse took control.
SET 2 | Green Bay then lost set two 25-17 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. GB trailed by as many as 11 points as Northern Kentucky grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 in a set that was tied up two times before the Norse took over the lead.
SET 3 | Northern Kentucky finished off the sweep with a third-set victory. The Phoenix dropped a tough set 25-19. Green Bay trailed by as many as six points as the Norse grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12.
