MANHATTAN, Kan. -  It was the second game of the weekend for the Green Bay men's basketball team. who could not keep up in an 82-64 loss to the Kansas State Wildcats on the road Sunday.

The Phoenix (2-8) had two players score in double figures, led by Japannah Kellogg III, who tied a career-high with 15 points, six rebounds and two steals. Kamari McGee got his first career start for the Phoenix, adding 14 points and Donovan Ivory added seven points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The two teams traded buckets for the game's first five minutes, with Green Bay eventually grabbing a 15-12 lead with a three from McGee. The Wildcats responded over the next nine minutes, putting together a 19-11 run to grab a 31-26 with just over six minutes left in the half. The Wildcats then exploded in the final six minutes of the half, scoring 15 points while holding Green Bay to just four points and grabbed a 46-30 lead heading into the break.

Kansas State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 73-52 advantage before Green Bay went on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 73-57 with 5:10 to go in the contest. Kansas State responded and outscored the Phoenix the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 82-64.

» It was the second straight game in double figures for McGee, who scored a career-high 19 points against Kansas City on Friday.
