Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Green Bay Past Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- After falling behind 18-12, the Green Bay women's basketball team went on a 42-10 run that spanned over 22 and-a-half minutes. Green Bay never looked back, holding Robert Morris to just 12 combined points between the second and third quarters en route to a 63-44 win over the Colonials.

The Phoenix (4-3, 2-1) had three players score in double figures, led by Cassie Schiltz, who had 16 points and seven rebounds. Sydney Levy tacked on 14 points off of the bench and Bailey Butler helped out with 10 points off of the bench.

Green Bay's offense made hay from beyond the arc, knocking down 10 threes on 27 attempts. Levy hit four treys for the Phoenix in the contest.

The Phoenix defense held Robert Morris shooters to only 30.4 percent from the field, including 23.1 percent from three-point range. Green Bay kept Esther Castedo to 3-of-12 shooting and eight points in the game. The Colonials did not get many second opportunities on the offensive end, as they grabbed only seven offensive rebounds and scored six second-chance points while Green Bay pulled down 31 defensive rebounds. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Green Bay built their first-half lead to 28-22 before going on an 8-0 run starting at the 3:25 mark in the second period, highlighted by a three from Schreiber, to increase its lead to 36-22, a score that would hold until halftime. Green Bay was strong from deep in the period, knocking down four three-point shots to account for 12 of its 16 points.

Following intermission, Green Bay continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 41-26 before going on a 9-0 run to expand its lead further to 50-26 with 3:04 to go in the third. The Phoenix entered the fourth quarter with a 52-30 edge, taking advantage of four Robert Morris turnovers in the quarter, scoring five points off of takeaways.

Green Bay got a boost from its bench in the fourth quarter, with non-starters scoring nine of its 11 total points.

» The Phoenix held the Colonials to only 30.4 percent shooting from the field.

» The Green Bay bench came alive by scoring 38 points to its scoring output.

» Green Bay's 10 made threes is a season-high, and the first time they've done so since March 2, 2021.

UP NEXT

The Phoenix continue their five-game road trip with showdowns against Youngstown State (Dec. 4), and Wisconsin (Dec. 12). Green Bay returns home Thursday, December 16, when they begin a four-game homestand that starts with Chicago State.
