GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay snapped Northern Kentucky's six-game winning streak in overtime Friday night at the Kress Center, 86-82, behind career performances from
Josh Jefferson and
Emmanuel Ansong, who scored 27 and 24, respectively.
GB improved to 7-10 in league play and 2-1 in overtime games, while NKU fell to 9-6 in conference action.
Green Bay's offense was firing on all cylinders early on, with its lead growing to nine points after
Amari Davis knocked down a triple at the 6:44 mark in the first half to lead thing 30-21.
The Phoenix led for the entirety of the first half and for much of the second before NKU's Marques Warrick hit a 3 to give his team a 60-59 lead with 6:07 left.
Josh Jefferson graced the starting lineup after
PJ Pipes was ruled out due to a non-COVID related illness. Jefferson's presence was felt immediately as the senior knocked down a game-opening triple for three of his game-high 27 points.
The senior guard also scored the last points of the game, solidifying GB's 86-82 win with a pair of free throws. He added nine rebounds, six assists and two steals to his stat line as well.
Ansong scored seven of his career-high 24 points in overtime and grabbed nine rebounds for the fourth time this year.
Green Bay shot 44.4% overall and went 21-for-26 from the line, while Northern Kentucky shot 47.5% percent from the field and went just 18-of-28 at the line.
Davis joined Ansong and Jefferson in double figures with 12 points. Lucas Stieber and Colin Schaefer finished with eight points apiece and combined for four 3-pointers.
The Phoenix returns to the hardwood tomorrow at 4 p.m. to close out the series with the Norse.
