MILWAUKEE, Wis. --- After taking a 2-0 lead at Milwaukee on Tuesday afternoon, the Panthers were able to come back and win three-straight sets to win 15-12 in a decisive fifth set and pick up the sweep. With the fifth set tied 12-12, Milwaukee (3-3) won the final three points to down the visiting Phoenix (2-4).
After hitting .226 and .536 in the first two sets, the Phoenix attack dipped to .205, .111 and .167 the final three sets, which helped the Panthers come back to win. MKE hit .293 in the match and had 73 digs to GB's 43.
Shannon Coughlin had 13 kills on 27 swings, adding in four blocks, with an attack percentage at .333 to lead the team.
Alexandra Zakutney led the team with 14 kills, with
Kristen Paulus adding 12 kills of her own.
GB won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-20, before MKE won by similar margins in the next two sets 25-19 and 25-16. The Panthers have now beaten GB five times in a row, after winning 3-0 last night by a combined six points.
Addy Karmik controlled the attack with 35 assists and nine digs, while
Annelise Sparks added 13 digs.
Kayla Lass came on defensively with 10 digs.
Milwaukee was led by Ari Miller with 17 kills and Carmen Heilemann with 15 kills.
Green Bay will return home next week when it plays host to Northern Kentucky on Monday and Tuesday.
