ROCHESTER, Mich. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking loss on Wednesday morning at Oakland, as the Golden Grizzlies found the back of the net in the final minute of regulation to defeat the Phoenix, 2-1.
Oakland took its first advantage in the 44th minute, when Hollie Clement scored her first goal of the year just before the midway point on a cross from Sami Lopez.
Green Bay responded early in the second half, with
Cam Castelan finding mesh on a penalty kick in the 57th minute.
It looked as though Oakland was going to take the lead in the 79th minute after a foul in the box resulted in a penalty kick, but the sure hands of
Isabel Dunning were able to stop the attempt and keep the game knotted at 1-all.
The heartbreaking strike came in the 90th minute of play, as OU's Alexa Sabbagh scored to seal the victory, 2-1, and three crucial points for the Golden Grizzlies.
Oakland owned a 19-6 advantage in total shots and placed 12 on-goal compared to GB's three.
Green Bay heads to Cleveland State next week for an 11:30 a.m. (CT) kickoff on Wednesday.
