GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay men's basketball program and head coach
Will Ryan announced the addition of Mitch Listau to the Phoenix roster on Friday morning. Listau, a native of Wisconsin who played high school basketball at Waunakee, comes to GB as a transfer from Belmont.
"We're thrilled to welcome Mitch back to Wisconsin and into our Phoenix family," said head coach
Will Ryan. "He knows what we are trying to build here and fits perfectly into our culture of being a team-first player. His experience, ability to score, rebound and defensive toughness will be a major asset to our team."
Listau redshirted his first year in college before taking the court for the Bruins in 2019-20 and 2020-21. He averaged 3.1 points in 20 games for the Belmont this season after averaging 2.8 points in 30 games as a freshman.
"I'm really excited to come back to Wisconsin and play at Green Bay," Listau said. "I'm super grateful for Coach Ryan and the rest of the staff for giving me this terrific opportunity to play my last couple years of college basketball. They are looking to build something that I want to be part of, and I can't wait to get to work with the team, and hopefully get GB back to the NCAA tournament."
The in-state standout was one of the best players in Wisconsin during his days at Waunakee. The 2018 graduate scored 1,829 career points and twice was named the Badger North Conference player of the year.
Listau was a three-time all-state selection by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association and was a second-team all-state pick by the Associated Press as a senior after averaging 23.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3 assists while shooting 54%.
