CARMEL, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) —- The Green Bay men's and women's cross country teams covered the respective 8k and 6k routes on Thursday afternoon in Carmel, Ind., for the 2020 Horizon League Championships.
The men's team finished 10th in the conference and was led by freshman Matthew Marcinske, while the women's team placed 11th overall and was paced junior Alexia Oyer.
Marcinske covered the 8K course in 28:59 and averaged 5:50 per mile to place 53rd overall. Payton Heinberg (29:19), Riley Volkman (29:30), Nathan Erck (31:09) and Bryce Legois (31:45) rounded out the scorers on the men's side.
Oyer finished her 6K route in 24:46, averaging 6:40 per mile to cross the line in 46th overall. Marissa Wackett (25:38), Hannah Suarez (26:43), Megan Drzadinski (28:14) and Neda Monasher (28:32) joined Oyer as scorers for the Phoenix women.
IUPUI claimed the team title on the men's side and Milwaukee was crowned champion for the women.
