Green Bay Struggles at Oakland, Drops Doubleheader

GAME 1 | Oakland 10, Green Bay 2
ROCHESTER, Mich. --Freshman Randi McKay went 2-for-3 with a double for the Green Bay Phoenix in a 10-2 loss to the Oakland Golden Grizzlies in game one on Saturday.

Freshman Gabby Paliska (1-5) started and took the loss in the circle for Green Bay (14-11, 9-8).

McKay led the way offensively for the Phoenix, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double. Freshman Samantha Saloun put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3. Freshman Bailey Schultz also helped out, going 1-for-3 for Green Bay with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Phoenix were trailing 4-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Schultz's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Green Bay. The Phoenix were unable to get any closer, as Oakland added six runs to their tally on the way to a 10-2 final.

Freshman Abby Freismuth (1-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Green Bay (14-12, 9-9). The right-hander went six innings, giving up four runs, two earned, on seven hits, allowing three walks and striking out one.

Justman led the way offensively for the Phoenix, collecting two walks and an RBI. Freshman Hailey Heckenlaible provided a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Phoenix got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Green Bay managed to push across two runs in the inning. The Phoenix were unable to hold the lead, as Oakland scored four times over the remaining six innings to grab the 4-2 win.
