GREEN BAY, WI --The Green Bay volleyball team rallied after an early one-set deficit to secure a 3-1 win (22-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-22) over the St. Thomas (MN) Tommies Saturday in the GBD Invite.
The non-conference victory improved Green Bay's overall record to 1-2 on the season.
The Phoenix was led by a double-double from Alexandra Zakutney, who registered 12 kills and 12 digs on the day. Shannon Coughlin also added 12 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Abby Gardner chipped in for GB with 20 digs to go with seven blocks from Tiffany Paalman.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Phoenix fell in a back-and-forth first set, losing 25-22 in a game that featured five lead changes and was tied 16 times. Neither team led by more than three points in the match.
SET 2 | Green Bay responded to pick up a 25-22 victory in the second set, evening the match at one set apiece. The Phoenix led from the first point on in the set to earn the victory. Green Bay opened up as much as an eight point lead at 16-8 before closing out the set.
SET 3 | Green Bay went ahead 2-1 in the match after defeating the Tommies in set three. The Phoenix took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to earn a 25-19 victory. Green Bay opened up as much as a seven point lead at 12-5 before closing out the set, totaling 15 kills along the way.
SET 4 | Green Bay earned a match win with a 25-22 fourth-set victory, winning their third set in a row. The Phoenix endured a ferocious St. Thomas (MN) rally, hanging on to win after leading by seven points at 19-12 earlier in the set. Green Bay also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set. Green Bay got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four St. Thomas (MN) attacks in the stanza.
The Phoenix will wrap up the GBD Invite later this evening with a match against Northern Iowa. First serve against the Panthers will be at 6:30 p.m.
