GREEN BAY --- A familiar face will be on the sidelines for the Green Bay women's basketball program this season, as Carly Mohns has been hired as an assistant coach. Mohns started in her new role for the program this week, and will work with the players on development, recruiting and assist with the overall operations of the program.

Mohns, a native of Brodhead, Wis., played for the Phoenix during the 2018-19 season after transferring over from Iowa. She started in all 32 games and helped the team finish 15-3 in the Horizon League play, before advancing all the way to the tournament title game. Following her career at GB, Mohns became the Director of Women's Sport Enhancement Academy (Wisconsin Academy) in Stoughton, while also serving as the JV and varsity assistant coach for Broadhead High School. 

"I am excited to become part of the Phoenix coaching staff," said Mohns. "I was honored to play for Green Bay and now look forward to the transition of player to assistant coach. Being part of GB's successful basketball program is a dream come true. I can't wait to see our fans during the upcoming season and Go Phoenix!"

Mohns received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in Sport and Recreation Management, before grad-transferring to Green Bay. She replaces Mehryn Kraker on the coaching staff, who has returned overseas to continue her professional playing career. 

"We are very excited to have Carly back as a Phoenix," said head coach Kevin Borseth. "Carly is going to be a lifer in the coaching business. In some regards, she is a lot like I was when I was first was getting into coaching. Just give me keys to the gym and I'll be there, and she's had success as an athlete while being a great teammate. Carly has a good feel for the game as well as the importance of reaching the players in the process. We look forward to watching her develop as time unfolds."

Green Bay will begin its first official practice this week, leading up to a pair of home exhibition games and the start of the regular season on November 9.
