Stieber's Career Day Not Enough as Phoenix Falls at Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio - Despite a career-high 22 point performance from Lucas Stieber, the Green Bay men's basketball team fell at Wright State on Saturday, 72-69.

Stieber's 22 points came on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor and 3-of-5 shooting from three-point range (2-11, 1-3). Emmanuel Ansong helped out with 16 points, nine rebounds and two steals and Japannah Kellogg III chipped in with 11 points.

Green Bay forced 14 Wright State turnovers. The Phoenix turned those takeaways into 19 points on the other end of the floor. Ansong's two steals led the way for Green Bay.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Green Bay jumped out to an early 11-5 lead thanks to 5-of-7 shooting in the game's first five minutes. Wright State responded immediately with a 14-2 run that gave them a 19-13 lead with just under ten minutes left in the half. The Raiders extended that lead and grabbed a 38-32 lead heading into the half.

The Phoenix were able to get back in the game off of a 13-2 run early in the second half that culminated in a made reverse layup from Ansong that tied the game at 45 a piece with 13:01 left in the game. Both teams traded baskets until a 6-0 Lucas Stieber run gave GB some separation at 66-60 with 3:18 to go. Wright State would not go down without a fight however, as they held Green Bay field goal-less in the final three minutes and ripped off a 12-3 run to take the ball game.
