GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay men's basketball team got career-nights from freshmen Kamari McGee and Cade Meyer, but fell to the UIC Flames 80-63 at home Saturday.
McGee led the Phoenix (3-13, 2-5) with 23 points. Meyer tacked on 15 points and Donovan Ivory helped out with 11 points off of the bench. Meyer pulled down nine rebounds, and led the Phoenix with three offensive rebounds, helping the GB offense pour in 11 second-chance points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flames came out hot right away, and Kevin Johnson's long three made it a quick 10-point deficit for Green Bay at 15-5 with 14:43 left in the first half. UIC never looked back, grabbing a 36-25 lead at the break. McGee and Meyer paced Green Bay with nine points each in the half.
UIC kept widening its lead coming out of halftime, going up by as much as 22 after Jamie Ahale tacked on two free throws with 8:50 left in regulation. The Phoenix would fight back, cutting the UIC lead to 12 with 12:23 to go, but the Flames responded with a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.

Green Bay will continue their four-game home stand next Thursday at the Resch Center versus Detroit Mercy at 7 p.m. Following, the Phoenix will host Oakland at the Resch Center on Saturday with a 6 p.m. tip-off.
