Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Levy and Oskey Lead Green Bay over Wright State 73-51

DAYTON, Ohio - Thursday night marked the first time the Green Bay women's basketball team had played since Jan. 8, but you wouldn't have been able to tell if you watched. Fueled by a season-high 24 points from Sydney Levy, the Phoenix completed a dominant win over Wright State, 73-51.

Levy was efficient to lead GB, scoring her 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting and 5-of-8 shooting from three-point range. Hailey Oskey wasn't far behind, pouring in a season-high 22 points and eight rebounds. Brooklyn Blackburn just missed a double-double finishing with nine points and nine rebounds.

The Green Bay defense held Wright State shooters to just 27.3-percent from the field, including 26.9-percent from three-point range. The Phoenix shot 35.1-percent from the field and 29.0-percent from three.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Both teams traded baskets to start the game before Green Bay was able to create some separation thanks to a 10-0 run that started with 4:43 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Levy, to increase its lead to 23-10. The Phoenix then maintained that lead and entered the quarter break with a 25-12 advantage. Levy scored eight points on 3-for-4 shooting in just four minutes in the frame.

Green Bay built that first quarter lead to 30-15 before going on a 6-0 run starting at the 3:24 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Cassie Schiltz, to increase its lead to 36-15. The Phoenix kept that lead for the remainder of the period and went into half up 42-21. Green Bay was strong from deep in the period, knocking down three three-point shots to account for nine of its 17 points.

After intermission, Green Bay held on to its advantage and owned a 57-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Green Bay played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 15 points in the paint.

The teams again battled back and forth to start the fourth until GB went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Brooklyn Blackburn's layup, to grow the lead to 68-41 with 7:33 to go in the contest. The Raiders narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Phoenix still cruised the rest of the way for the 73-51 win.
