Green Bay Shoots Lights Out in 67-58 Win Over Northern Kentucky

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Green Bay women's basketball offense was clicking Saturday afternoon, shooting 55.8-percent from the floor and 63.6-percent from three-point range en route to a 67-58 win at Northern Kentucky. With the win, GB snapped a 10-game NKU win streak dating back to Dec. 3. The Phoenix has now won three in a row and five of its last six.

The Phoenix (10-5, 6-3) was led by a season-high matching 22 points from Hailey Oskey, while Cassie Schiltz added 14 points and three rebounds.

Green Bay's defense held Northern Kentucky to 35.6-percent shooting from the field, including 20.7 percent from beyond the arc.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Northern Kentucky was able to establish themselves early, grabbing a 14-6 lead after a Norse made jumper with 3:19 left in the first. Green Bay responded and closed the quarter on a 5-0 run that included buckets from Jasmine Kondrakiewicz and Bailey Butler to narrow its deficit to 14-11.

NKU held serve, building a 25-20 advantage before Green Bay rattled off another run towards the end of the quarter. The Phoenix outscored the Norse 8-3 in the halves' final 3:20. Green Bay forced four Northern Kentucky turnovers in the period and turned them into six points.

Green Bay dominated the third quarter from start to finish, going 9-of-10 in the quarter to help them outscore the Norse 26-14 in the frame. Oskey was a force for the Phoenix, scoring 11 of her 22 points in the quarter. Sydney Levy punctuated GB's strong quarter with a buzzer-beating three to give them a 54-42 lead heading into the fourth.

Northern Kentucky battled back to make it interesting, eventually bringing it to a one-possession game with just under a minute to go. However, Schiltz had an answer, draining a turnaround post hook shot with :25 to put Green Bay up 63-58. From there, Oskey and Butler both drained a pair of free throws to put the game out of reach.
