Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Green Bay Drops Tight Contest at Robert Morris, 62-60

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Saturday afternoon marked the second game of the Green Bay men's basketball team's four-game road trip, as they traveled to Robert Morris. Despite outshooting the Colonials, the Phoenix fell 62-60.

The Phoenix (4-16, 3-8) were led by two true freshmen, Cade Meyer and Kamari McGee. Meyer led the team with 16 points and eight rebounds while McGee tacked on 15 points with two rebounds and two assists. Japannah Kellogg III played solid as well, chipping in 11 points and grabbing three boards.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Neither team was able to create any separation until the Colonials established a 13-8 lead thanks to a three from Khaliel Spear. RMU built on that lead to take a 22-14 lead with 9:19 left in the half. The Phoenix responded, outscoring the hosts 13-4 in the final nine minutes of the half to grab a 27-26 lead heading into the locker room.

Having surrendered a lead in the first, Robert Morris responded with a 13-4 run of their own in the first five minutes of the second half to grab a 39-31 lead. Down nine and needing a bucket, the Phoenix got back-to-back jumpers from McGee to stop the bleeding and bring the score to 39-35 with 14:08 left in the game. It looked like the Phoenix would grab the lead multiple times down the stretch after cutting the deficit to one, but the Colonials responded with timely threes and held their lead to the end.
