GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay volleyball team took care of business in three sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-21) to knock off the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons Tuesday at the Kress Events Center. The conference victory improved Green Bay's record to 17-7 overall and 8-2 in Horizon play.
Alexandra Zakutney paced the Phoenix offense with 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .385. Shannon Coughlin also helped the offense by adding on 10 kills and hitting a .290. Defensively, Green Bay had two players reach double figures in digs as Annelise Sparks had 14 and Abby Gardner had 10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix took control of the set-one lead at 3-2 and never looked back to win in dominant fashion, 25-12. Green Bay opened up its biggest lead of the game with 13 points to close out the set. The Phoenix also supplemented their offense with five aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Green Bay quickly grabbed a 2-0 lead, winning 25-17 in the second set. The Phoenix led from the opening point on in the set to secure the victory. Green Bay opened up as much as a 10-point lead at 22-12 before closing out the set.
SET 3 | GB closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after winning set three. The Phoenix came back to win the third set after falling behind 17-13 to start. Green Bay rattled off a 12-4 run to close the set and the match.

» Abby Gardner had a match-high three aces in the win.
» Zakutney had a match-high 12 kills for Green Bay. Tonight was her fifth-straight match in double-digit kills
» Green Bay got a team-high 14 digs from Annelise Sparks.
» Phoenix attackers were helped by a match-high 29 assists from Calli Gentry.
» Coughlin has hit double-figure kills for three-straight matches.
UP NEXT
Green Bay will hit the road for two games this weekend. Friday night the Phoenix will take on Youngstown State at 5 p.m. before traveling to Moon Township, Pa. to take on Robert Morris at 3 p.m. Saturday.
