GREEN BAY, Wis. - Green Bay men's soccer played their final home game of 2022 on Saturday night against Robert Morris and finished with a 0-0 draw at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
Green Bay and Robert Morris each get a point from the draw, and the Phoenix remains in seventh place just a point behind the Colonials in sixth. The Phoenix will need to defeat Cleveland State on the road next Wednesday for a chance at a Horizon League Championships spot.
Keegan Walker led the team with three shots, while
Tobias Jahn tallied five saves after facing 11 Colonial shots.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Colonials came out strong in the opening half, outshooting GB 7-1. RMU had four shots in the first 21 minutes, but Jahn claimed three of his saves in that span. Robert Morris tacked on three more shots just before halftime but went wide on two and had one denied by Jahn.
Jake Parish had the lone shot for the Phoenix in the 25th minute.
Green Bay would flip the script in the second frame, nearly doubling the shots RMU had (7-4). Walker led the charge with three shots, while
Josh Johansen,
Andrew Paolucci, and
Michael McDougall chipped in with one shot each. Green Bay had a few chances, including Walker's first shot in the 49th minute when he had open space on the edge of the six-yard box, but couldn't capitalize. The Phoenix had one last chance with a corner kick in the 88th minute but didn't convert.
GAME NOTES
- Each squad received two yellow cards.
- RMU had seven corner kicks compared to GB's three.
- Green Bay did not record a shot on goal.
UP NEXT
A Horizon League Championship spot is on the line next Wednesday at Cleveland State in Green Bay's regular season finale. The Phoenix and Vikings will kickoff at 1 p.m. CT.
