CLEVELAND, Ohio --The Green Bay volleyball team could not overcome a potent Vikings offense Friday on the road falling to Cleveland State in three sets (18-25, 19-25, 19-25).
The loss dropped Green Bay's record to 20-10 overall and 11-5 in Horizon League play.
Cora Behnke finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Phoenix attack. Defensively, four players reached double figures in digs, highlighted by 18 from Annelise Sparks and Alexandra Zakutney, and 11 more from Calli Gentry.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-18. Green Bay trailed by as many as nine points as Cleveland State grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7.
SET 2 | Green Bay then dropped set two 25-19 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Phoenix fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Green Bay couldn't prolong the match and lost the third set. Green Bay jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start, but the Vikings responded with a 16-7 run that put them in the driver's seat. Cleveland State won the third set 25-19.
