GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay women's basketball team showed dominance from start to finish in its 92-42 blowout victory over Chicago State Wednesday afternoon at the Kress Center. Green Bay has won five in a row for the first time this season.
The Phoenix (8-3, 1-1 HL) had five players score in double figures. Maddy Schreiber - who was 8-of-8 from the field - and Natalie McNeal each had 16 points, while Jenna Guyer chipped in with 14. Callie Genke had 12 points, and Tatum Koenig tallied 11.
Chicago State (0-16) was paced by Yzabelle Laualofa Tevao and Tae'lor Willard, whom each had 11 points. Green Bay had a stellar day defensively, holding Chicago State to 14-percent from beyond the arc.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After playing to a 6-6 tie early in the game, Green Bay went on a 14-0 run with 4:39 left in the first quarter to take a 20-6 lead. The Phoenix would never look back and led the rest of the game. GB went to work in the paint, scoring 14 of 20 points inside the lane in the opening frame.
The Phoenix continued to pour it on in the second quarter, tripling Chicago State's scoring output 24-8 in the stanza. Schreiber helped build the lead with six points and one rebound in the quarter. Guyer highlighted the second quarter, taking a quick pass from Bailey Butler and banking it off the glass to beat the buzzer, sending Green Bay to the locker room with a 44-14 halftime lead.
Green Bay led by no less than 26 in the third quarter and extended the lead to 38 after Genke sunk a three with 1:42 remaining in the quarter. Koenig had an active third quarter, recording two steals and three points.
The Phoenix and Cougars put on an offensive display in the final quarter, with GB outscoring CSU 30-18. Green Bay came out blazing, scoring eight points in the first 1:49 of the frame. McNeal scored seven points in the fourth quarter, while Koenig chipped in with five points and two assists. Brehna Evans, a De Pere native, got in on the action, recording her first rebound, assist, steal, and points as a Phoenix.

COMING UP
Green Bay will have some time off to enjoy the Christmas holiday but will return to action next Thursday, December 29, when Oakland visits Titletown. Thursday's game is Military Appreciation Night, with all active and former military members eligible for two free tickets with a valid ID.
