Oskey, Schiltz Pace Green Bay In Statement Win Over IUPUI

Green Bay has won ten-straight games

GREEN BAY, Wis. --The Green Bay women's basketball team made a statement Saturday afternoon by taking down IUPUI 71-56  at the Kress Center for their tenth-straight win.

The Phoenix (17-5, 13-3) had three players score in double figures, led by Cassie Schiltz and Hailey Oskey, who each finished with 16 points. Jasmine Kondrakiewicz added 11 points and a rebound off the bench, while Brooklyn Blackburn chipped in with nine points.

The Jaguars got solid contributions from Rachel Kent and Macee Williams. Kent led IUPUI with 21, while Williams totaled 18 points in 30 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED

IUPUI came out strong, taking a 10-6 lead after Rachel McLimore knocked down a triple with 6:19 to go in the opening frame. Green Bay went scoreless for 3:20, but solid defense and a Hailey Oskey three with 3:16 to go jump-started the Phoenix offense. Both teams traded baskets down the stretch and ended the first quarter in a 19-19 tie.

After a hot end to the opening quarter, both teams went into a drought to begin the second frame. It wasn't until Sydney Levy hit a pair of free throws with 6:36 to go that gave GB a 21-19 lead. Williams responded with a layup to tie it at 21 with 6:04 to go. However, the Phoenix started to pull away, outscoring the Jaguars 11-4 in the halves final six minutes. GB went into intermission up 32-25, holding IUPUI to just six points in the second quarter.

Despite efforts from IUPUI to tighten the game, Green Bay was able to stand its ground in the third period, narrowly outscoring IUPUI 18-16. Oskey poured in 11 points in the frame, including eight straight for GB. She sunk a trey with 14 seconds left in the quarter to put Green Bay up 50-41 going into the fourth.

The Phoenix put its foot on the gas in the final frame. Green Bay ballooned the lead to 17 with 4:08 left when Kondrakiewicz knocked down her third three of the game. Green Bay finished 10-of-21 from beyond the arc en route to the 71-56 win. With the win, Green Bay is the No. 2 seed in the Horizon League, sitting just behind Youngstown State for the one seed.
