Stellar Defense Leads Green Bay Over IUPUI, 67-41

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -The Green Bay men's basketball closed the regular season with a road win at IUPUI, 67-41. The Phoenix held IUPUI to just 13.6-percent shooting from three-point range.

The Phoenix (5-24, 4-16) had three players score in double figures, led by Kamari McGee, who had 13 points and four steals. Emmanuel Ansong tacked on 12 points and three steals and Cade Meyer chipped in with 10.

Meyer pulled down three offensive rebounds to lead the Green Bay offense which grabbed 10 boards and turned them into 11 second chance points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 8-0, Green Bay went on a 15-0 run with 15:46 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Meyer, to take a 15-8 lead. The Phoenix added nine points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 32-16 advantage. Green Bay did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 24 of its 32 points close to the basket.

Following intermission, Green Bay kept widening that lead, expanding it to 38-20 before going on a 9-0 run, finished off by Mitch Listau's three, to grow the lead to 47-20 with 12:26 to go in the contest. The Jaguars narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Phoenix still cruised the rest of the way for the 67-41 win.

GAME NOTES
» The Phoenix held the Jaguars to only 30.9-percent shooting from the field.
» The Phoenix turned 21 turnovers into 30 points on the offensive end.
» The Phoenix couldn't get going from beyond the arc, but shot 29-of-54 (53.7-percent)
» Green Bay held IUPUI to 41 points, the lowest mark of the season.
» Kamari McGee led the Phoenix with a game-high 13 points.
» Green Bay got a team-high six rebounds from Japannah Kellogg III.

COMING UP
Green Bay concluded the regular season as the Horizon League's No. 11 seed, and will travel to No. 6 Detroit Mercy next Tuesday, March 1.
