GREEN BAY, Wis. – During the week of March 28 – April 1, the UW-Green Bay Communication Department is hosting Communication Week, a week-long event that allows current students and Green Bay alumni to connect, innovate, and grow.
COMM WEEK EVENTS
One of the many events that takes place during Comm Week is the Comm Week Banquet. This year's banquet keynote speaker is Green Bay women's basketball alumna Pam Roecker '83. The Banquet will take place on Thursday, March 31 in the Weidner Center from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be time to network from 5:30-6:00pm with a buffet style dinner and a cash bar starting at 6:00pm followed by the program including the guest speaker and highlighting the Communication department from 6:30-7:30 PM.
Roecker is currently the Dean of Athletics for Regis College. She graduated cum laude from UW-Green Bay. In 1995, she was inducted into the University's Hall of Fame. Roecker has served as a television broadcaster for college basketball games on major networks including ESPN3, Comcast SportsNet and NESN. She also served as the director of athletics and recreation for GNAC member Emmanuel College in Boston from 2003 to 2015. She most recently held the same position for Gann Academy in Waltham. Roecker has extensive coaching experience serving as an assistant basketball coach at Green Bay, the University of Massachusetts and later at Seton Hall University in New Jersey. In 1990, Roecker was named the head coach of the women's basketball team at Wagner College in New York City. In 1998, she was appointed the head coach for Loyola University in Chicago.
Roecker played for the Green Bay women's basketball team from 1979-83. In those four years, the Phoenix compiled an impressive 93-32 record and never missed the postseason. After her senior season in 1983, Roecker was named NAIA All-District, WWIAC All-Conference, and an NAIA Academic All-American.
