GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay softball team and Cleveland State were finally able to meet after multiple schedule changes, with the teams splitting a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.
GAME 1 | Green Bay 3, Cleveland State 1
The Phoenix got on the board right away when
Becca Edwards walked with the bases loaded. Cleveland State's Becca Hurosky tied things up in the top of the second when she sent a solo homer over the right-field wall. The game was tied at one apiece going into the bottom of the fourth when
Alicia Peters blasted her 10
th home run of the season. The senior standout now has 19 RBIs on the year, which is good for third on the team. That hit proved to be the winner for Green Bay, as the Phoenix held the Vikings scoreless the rest of the way.
Brittany Baneck started in the circle and tossed seven strong innings, allowing just one run on seven hits. She struck out seven after facing 31 batters.

Both teams were pitching gems through the first three innings, with neither team allowing any runs on just three combined hits. Jadin Justman.
Gracie Peterson followed suit with a sacrifice fly that brought home Peters and tied the game at two.
GB took their first lead of game two when Justman ripped a double into left field, bringing home
Randi McKay. The Vikings had a response of their own in the sixth, bringing in three runs thanks to a bases-clearing triple by Brooke Albaugh that gave them a 5-3 lead. GB would bring it back to within one when McKay put the ball in play and forced an error that allowed
Gracie Peterson to come home and make it 5-4.
In the seventh, Cleveland State would tack on two more runs when Melissa Holzopfel reached on a fielder's choice, bringing in Jenna Deang. Sydney Bajusz had an RBI double that made it 7-5 going into the bottom of the frame.
Down to their last chance, Green Bay started the bottom of the seventh with a bang when Justman torched a line drive over the center-field wall, marking her sixth home run of the season and team-leading 24
th RBI. GB continued to make things interesting by loading the bases up before Peterson drove in a run on a single to center to cut the Viking lead to 7-6. Holzopfel, pitching in relief for Torrie Jenkins, worked out of the jam and held Green Bay at six.
