ATLANTA, Ga. - The Green Bay women's basketball program continued its tradition of success in the classroom on Wednesday, earning a top five spot in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Division I Team Honor Roll.
GB posted a 3.723 grade point average (GPA) during the 2021-22 academic year. It's the program's 17th appearance on the honor roll.
"We are extremely proud of the work our student-athletes put in the classroom this past season", head coach
Kevin Borseth said. "I want to thank the tremendous group of faculty we have at Green Bay who go above and beyond to ensure all of our athletes are getting a first-class educational experience. The university as a whole creates an atmosphere where learning is at the forefront of their mission and with their help our student-athletes have the support to excel both on the court and in the classroom."
Green Bay was one of three Horizon League women's basketball programs represented in the top 25, with Robert Morris coming in at No. 2 and Youngstown State coming in at No. 16.
"The WBCA family of coaches is committed to the student-athlete experience and celebrates these teams that have demonstrated excellence in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "This year's WBCA Academic Top 25 is a powerful list of teams and their head coaches who have winning cultures that prepare their student-athletes for success in life."
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2021-22 season is the 27th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
