Women's Soccer Secures 2-0 Shutout Victory Over Western Illinois

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay Women's Soccer team came out victorious over Western Illinois in a 2-0 shutout Thursday afternoon at Aldo Santaga Stadium. The Phoenix improved to 2-0-0 overall, which marks the first time they've started the season with two back-to-back wins since 1996.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute when Zoey Pagels scored her second of the season. Pagels finished off a chance that was created by a sequence of passes from Emily Murphy and McKayla Kertscher, who were both credited with an assist. During the first half, GB recorded eight shots while WIU had just three

The Phoenix went up 2-0 after an unassisted goal from Kertscher -- her first goal of the season -- in the 74th minute. GB continued putting pressure on the Leathernecks' goal late in the second half, attempting five more shots while WIU could only manage two.
